Decisions determine destiny

 Decisions determine destiny

While I was preparing my talk for ‘The Battle for Your Soul’ tour, I began to research what the soul really is. Most sources agree that your soul consists of your mind, will and emotions. So a battle for your soul is really a battle for your thoughts (mind), your decisions (will) and your feelings (emotions).

The bit that stood out for me the most was this idea that there is a constant war raging for the decisions I make every day. We tend to categorize decisions (consciously and subconsciously) as big or small, important or unimportant. What to wear... small decision. Which university to apply for... big decision. What to eat... unimportant decision. Who to

marry... important decision. But in reality, every single decision we make is an act of our will, and is highly significant in determining our destiny.

What if I began to be a little more deliberate in my decision making? What if I stopped to ask myself,‘Who wins the battle for my soul in each decision?’ My challenge really begins to sink in as I consider these words of Jesus:

"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. But narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

(Matthew 7:13, 14 NKJV)
