Kendall has announced the release of his debut full-length solo album. Out on July 1, 2012, ‘Holy Freaks’ sees Chip
returning to some of the rock/dance sounds that made thebandwithnoname so
popular with crowds all around the world.

Chip
says, "I’m so proud of this new project. We’ve been ‘road testing’ many of the songs for quite awhile now, and
it’s so good to finally make them available to our listeners. The running theme throughout is that as
Christians, we are a peculiar people, a chosen generation. We are in the world but not of it. When faced with so much darkness and
temptation, the holy freaks always shine brightest.”

Several
of the songs are anthems for the various projects Chip is involved in at the
moment. ‘Evolution’ is a song inspired
by his many visits into high schools with a scientist and DJ as part of Test of FAITH: Live! bringing
illumination on the faith vs. science debate. ‘Answers’ is a reflection on his time in East India with Compassion UK earlier this year. And songs like ‘Underground Army’ and ‘Solve
it on the Dance Floor’ carry the unique DNA of MYvoice – a new youth media movement Chip is pioneering alongside
Cross Rhythms.

Battle for Your Soul’ tour, I began to

While I was preparing my talk for ‘The
Battle for Your Soul’ tour, I began to
research what the soul really is. Most
sources agree that your soul consists of
your mind, will and emotions. So a
battle for your soul is really a battle for
your thoughts (mind), your decisions
(will) and your feelings (emotions).

The bit that stood out for me the most
was this idea that there is a constant
war raging for the decisions I make
every day. We tend to categorize
decisions (consciously and
subconsciously) as big or small,
important or unimportant. What to
wear... small decision. Which university
to apply for... big decision. What to
eat... unimportant decision. Who to

marry... important decision. But in
reality, every single decision we make is
an act of our will, and is highly
significant in determining our destiny.

What if I began to be a little more
deliberate in my decision making? What
if I stopped to ask myself,‘Who wins
the battle for my soul in each decision?’
My challenge really begins to sink in as I
consider these words of Jesus:

"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the
gate and broad is the way that leads to
destruction, and there are many who go in
by it. But narrow is the gate and difficult
is the way which leads to life, and there
are few who find it.”

(Matthew 7:13, 14 NKJV)

My voice brings freedom

Words carry
more weight than we give them credit for sometimes...

Words carry
more weight than we give them credit for sometimes. I was signing autographs after a gig in
Belgium recently. When the queue of festival-goers
had run out I was packing up my things to leave, when a young lady came up to
me with tears in her eyes. She said, "I
just want to thank you for the prayer you prayed at the end of your set. I really needed to hear that. I’m trying not to cry!”

She emailed
me a few weeks later and unpacked some of the horrible things that were going
on in her life. Then she explained how
God was beginning to break down some of the walls that had formed around her
heart. She wanted to thank me again,
because my prayer was a significant part of making that happen.

The Bible
tells a story about a city called Jericho with massive walls. When the Israelites entered the Promised
Land, this was one of the first cities they won. How?With their voices. The walls crumbled
when they lifted up a shout of victory. And the amazing thing is that this still happens today. It might not be an actual wall of stones
that’s coming down, but the impact is just as profound.

Brick walls
of fear, insecurity, anger, inferiority and hate that have built up around
people’s hearts over years and years of negative experiences turn to jelly when
God’s people speak just a few Holy Spirit inspired words to them. A classmate, a co-worker, a parent – even
complete strangers on the bus – each of them is like a walled city. Our words are like keys that unlock doors
that may have been shut for a very long time. They bring freedom and hope. How
can we stay quiet?

I actually
think that one of the biggest tactics of the enemy these days is to try and
keep roaring lions silent. What an
idiot. It’s not going to work. There is a generation of passionate roaring
lions who are beginning to find their voice. And when we do, every wall and gate of hell will shake down to its
foundations as an unprecedented sound rises and fills the airwaves. We’re praying like never before. We’re demolishing world systems. We’re dancing like there’s no tomorrow. Jesus will get the credit he deserves. This is the MYvoice revolution!

My voice creates my future.

We find in

didn’t just think it, or paint a picture, or press some galactic button on his

We find in
Genesis that the universe and everything in it came from words spoken by
God. Remember? God said,
‘Let there be light.’ God said, ‘Let there be space.’ God said,
‘Let the earth produce animals.’ He
didn’t just think it, or paint a picture, or press some galactic button on his
iPad7000. He said it. He literally spoke the worlds into existence.

Then we find
that God creates people in his image. In
Hebrew (the language the Bible was first written in) it says he created us with
a ‘speaking spirit’. Can you believe
that? An all-powerful, all-knowing God
sees fit to create humans with the ability to speak and create words like he
does! Amazing.

I believe
that our words frame our future. The
words we choose to live under will dictate the way we live our lives. The commonly used expression, ‘Sticks and
stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me,’ is one of the biggest
lies ever written. In some ways, it
couldn’t be further from the truth!Abusive words can remain in our memories for a lifetime, if we will let
them. But thankfully, so can
constructive words. Words of
affirmation, blessing, encouragement, hope and faith should be the most common
words in any Christian’s vocabulary.

Take a
moment and think about all the words you’ve said today so far. If possible, take stock of them. Which ones were really worth saying? Which ones could you have done without? Now think about the future you want for your
life. Think about the future you’re
absolutely convinced that God has in store for you. What can you change about the words you speak
over your own life, in order to see the fruition of those things?

Positive
words can be very contagious, especially in an environment devoid of them. Don’t be afraid to ‘talk big’. Our dad in heaven talks big all the
time. Talk about the things that enlarge
your faith. Talk about the things that
bring life to those around you. Decide
today to begin creating the future you always dreamed of by articulating your
destiny.

My voice is unique

DNA scientists know more about human beings now than ever before in the history of the world. Because of our DNA, we now know that all human beings are 99% exactly the same... The 1% that makes us truly unique shows up in at least three different prints on our bodies.

DNA scientists know more about human beings now than ever before in the history of the world. Because of our DNA, we now know that all human beings are 99% exactly the same. Not just family members, not just people the same colour as us, not just friends who have the same taste in clothes as we do. All human beings. If you’re in a room with other people right now, take a look around and think, ‘I’m 99% the same as that person over there.’ Crazy, huh?

The 1% that makes us truly unique shows up in at least three different prints on our bodies. The fingerprint, the eye print and the tongue print. Each of these, I believe, also carries a deeper more spiritual significance.

Fingerprints are usually associated with criminals, but in reality we all leave our fingerprints everywhere we go, simply by touching things and picking them up. On a deeper level, we also leave our ‘mark’ on people’s lives. Either a mark of encouragement or discouragement, help or hurt, smallness or greatness. We should all aim to leave a mark of greatness on our generation, especially as we seek to follow the example set by Jesus.

Eye prints are no longer relegated to James Bond movies, where someone’s iris is scanned before entering some secret lab. Many people in the real world are opting to have their eyes scanned in airports, instead of waiting in long queues at passport control. But again, I think there’s a deeper reason for God giving us each a unique eye print. He’s created us with a specific vision, both for our own lives and the world around us. The way we see the world determines the way we serve the world. We need to constantly be setting our sights higher, making heaven’s perspective our own.

Finally, why in the world would God give us a unique tongue print? The Bible has a lot to say about the power of the tongue, to both build and to tear apart, to bring life and to bring death. This happens, of course, through the words that we use.

Each of us has been given a unique voice. What are you using yours for? It’s time to speak up.

JESUS – ANCHOR OF HOPE

There are so many different kinds of hope. But as Christians, we’ve got something with a little more substance...

I was play-fighting with Cole (my 3 year old son) in the back garden the other day. My weapon of choice was a toy sword; his was a toy axe. I let him win (of course) and as I was lying there on the ground pretending to die, he looked down at me and asked, ‘Do you need a doctor?’

‘Yes.’ I choked out in reply.

Without hesitation he immediately changed character and said, ‘I’ll be your doctor.‘

‘Oh, great.’ I carried on the game. ‘Doctor, doctor...’ I gasped. ‘Is this the end of the road for me?’

‘No,’ he replied.

So I asked, ‘Are you telling me there’s still hope?’

His answer made me laugh out loud.

‘No,’ he said...

It was then that I knew it was time for my son to learn what the word hope means.

Helen (my wife) and I both struggled at first to come up with a good, simple definition of hope. After all, there are so many different kinds of hope. Some people hope to win a million pounds. That could also be termed wishful thinking. Some people hope to one day change the world. That’s more like a dream or an ambition. But as Christians, we’ve got something with a little more substance.

Hebrews 6:19 speaks of a hope that we can have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast - Jesus! Whenever we face life’s toughest storms and our boat gets rocked, lets remember that our anchor is sure and steadfast, and able to weather even the roughest conditions.
It’s called ‘RISE’ and it’s basically the youth leading the youth.

Something is seriously kicking off in Wales. It’s called ‘RISE’ and it’s basically the youth leading the youth. It was an absolute honor for me to be the guest speaker/performer with them on July 2, and I hope to be invited back soon.

I was reminded once again of the Holy Spirit’s gentle nature. It’s so easy to see God at work when the music is loud, hands are raised everywhere and the prayers are passionately shouted. But more often than not, he meets us in the quiet, almost embarrassing moments when we try something new and even sometimes feel as though we got it wrong. In my experience, the latter almost inevitably precedes the former.

My friend Dan pointed out to me a while ago that it’s amazing where worship can go once you eliminate the distractions. It’s the littlest things that feed our pride and anxiety. If we can simply come to our Father and meet with Him, forgetting everything else, who knows where He’ll take us?
